    Our interest is in using basic biomedical engineering/imaging principles to bridge the gap between bench top research and exceptional clinical care. We have longstanding collaborations with multiple departments within the UCLA School of Engineering and the UCLA School of Medicine. We pride ourselves in being able to speak both languages and leveraging each School’s strengths to improve patient care and long-term outcomes.

    Our work has primarily been involved in interventional oncology – using minimally-invasive tools under image guidance to treat early to intermediate-stage cancers. We aim to move the needle on cancer treatments using a three-pronged approach: 1) Computer simulation of medical devices and complex biological environments; 2) Validation of simulation results using phantom, ex-vivo, and in-vivo models; and 3) Optimizing medical devices and treatment techniques to improve outcomes directly to our clinical patient population.
