    Brittany Wolff, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Biobehavioral Sciences at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), specializing in clinical neuropsychology, computational psychiatry, and digital mental health. She received her doctorate in clinical neuropsychology and her law degree from the University of Western Australia. Dr. Wolff is a licensed psychologist in the United States and an endorsed Clinical Neuropsychologist in Australia.

    Dr. Wolff directs the SEED Laboratory (Signatures of Early Emergence and Divergence), which is dedicated to discovering developmental paraphenotypes of risk and resilience across psychosis and bipolar spectrum disorders. Her research addresses a central question in psychiatry: why individuals with shared familial liability for psychosis and bipolar spectrum disorders diverge toward distinct trajectories of illness and resilience. Her research program is centered on integrating multimodal data and artificial intelligence to develop clinically deployable tools for early identification, precision risk stratification, and personalized intervention in serious mental illness.

    Her research is supported by the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) and the Brain & Behavior Research Foundation (BBRF). She also serves as Co-Chair of the American Academy of Clinical Neuropsychology (AACN) Disruptive Technology Initiative, advancing the responsible integration of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies into clinical neuropsychology.

    Prediction of Risk and Resilience in Psychosis and Bipolar Spectrum Disorders: A Translational Multimodal Study

    Description: This K99/R00 will develop and validate multimodal prediction models using clinical high-risk research cohorts and test whether these predictive signatures translate to large-scale electronic health record (EHR) data used in routine healthcare. By identifying predictors of risk, remission, and resilience and translating them to scalable health-system data, this research will enable earlier detection and inform future clinical decision support tools to improve prevention and care for individuals at risk for these disorders.
    Decoding Bipolar I Disorder Heterogeneity: A Multimodal Classification Approach

    Description: By linking biological mechanisms to clinically-meaningful outcomes, this award will identify novel targets for intervention, enabling stratification of patients by biotype rather than symptom presentation alone. This work seeks to demonstrate the feasibility of a biologically-informed dimensional framework that can guide personalized treatment selection. Importantly, this study can improve scalability and translatability of specialised cohort studies to standard clinical practice through investigation of biomarkers available in routine care.
