In 2003, Peter Hauser received a PhD in Microbiology&Genetics from the University of Vienna, Vienna, Austria, where he studied the gene expression in human transplant kidneys associated with delayed graft function, and the genetic regulatory response in rodent kidneys undergoing experimental disease using microarrays.

During postdoctoral research at the University of Washington (2004-2007), Peter continued his studies of experimental renal diseases and developed a targeted gene delivery system to modulate gene expression in podocytes in vivo.

As a postdoc at the University of Torino (2008-2009), he gained experience in stem cell research and tissue engineering of the kidney. He studied the effects of human amniotic fluid stem cells on tubular regeneration and developed a hydrogel that can be used for targeted delivery of growth factors to promote tissue regeneration.

In his current studies at the Greater Los Angeles Veterans Administration Research Center (since 2010), Peter works on developmental engineering of the kidney, renal organoids and tissue vascularization.

Altmetrics Details PMC Citations indicate the number of times the publication was cited by articles in PubMed Central, and the Altmetric score represents citations in news articles and social media. (Note that publications are often cited in additional ways that are not shown here.) Fields are based on how the National Library of Medicine (NLM) classifies the publication's journal and might not represent the specific topic of the publication. Translation tags are based on the publication type and the MeSH terms NLM assigns to the publication. Some publications (especially newer ones and publications not in PubMed) might not yet be assigned Field or Translation tags.) Click a Field or Translation tag to filter the publications.
