Dr. Maria Garcia-Jimenez' research currently focuses on implementing interventions to address patient level barriers to participation in clinical trials by racial/ethnic minority populations with cancer. She is specifically interested in the roles of patient-centered education and navigation, that is health literacy, culturally, and linguistically tailored to Latino and primary Spanish-speaking patients. She conducts clinical trials at UCLA and at Olive-View UCLA, where she sees patients in clinic and serves as the Director of Oncology Research. Her clinical interests include breast cancer and cervical cancer. She also has conducted research on end-of-life care disparities for racial/ethnic minority patients with advanced cancer.
